belated weekend update
i swore that i would remember what we did last weekend and well, here i am, not remembering much. ah ha! i remember now (days later)! starting thursday, i worked from home so we could leave early for berkeley for the first gathering in a series. a visitor from the moms mailing list was in the area so we met up at fondu3 fred's. the food was a little disappointing this time around, can't even put a finger on why, but the company was excellent. lucinda and jen joined us too and after much food, we went to their place to "visit". had a great time and was definitely sad to leave but it was getting late and if we didn't leave, we would've stayed all night.

friday, liz and val picked me up at work so we could get a head start getting up to my first lesbian potluck. all was going well, we'd hit pockets of traffic, but it wasn't bad, until we saw signs for dublin and realized something went terribly wrong. we had gone east when we should've gone west. once we realized our mistake, we started laughing about "being out of the race", the amazing race, that is. we recovered quickly and made it to the destination without further mess ups.

liz made potato stuff, my favorite dish, and i made the ambrosia salad. didn't have any as i was busy stuffing my face of potato stuff, noting that it was a good thing that she didn't make this all the time or i would be much larger. (ooh, speaking of which, i have some leftovers in the fridge right now! brb.) hrm, upon further thought, it's a mailing list gathering of lesbians and not so much a meet-new-friends potluck since we were already friends with most of the participants. right? and wait, i think i've been to a potluck or two at wen's. 'sok, i consider this one to be my first potluck of my 30's. =D

saturday, got up late, went to dim sum for lunch, then went to baby super to check out a cheap stroller that liz wanted to get so we wouldn't have to worry about damaging or losing our really, really nice one in disneyland. i know, a bit paranoid but i would hate for anything to happen to my nice stroller (wow, did i just say that?) i was not too keen to pay for a new one and tried to convince liz of the cheap "shopping cart" model that i honestly didn't like myself. we sat there for quite some time, she didn't like my choice, i didn't like hers. we decided to think about it some more but when liz pushed my shopping cart back to its place, she noticed a closeout stroller that fit the bill. major bonuses: half the price, nicer material, and most importantly, both of us liked it. score!

went home, hung out for a second before it was time to leave for my red makeup game. we played some good hockey, i think i was +2/-2. =/ the first was a great example of a triangle by cheddah, lindsay and amy. they fought for it, got the put to amy, who was standing in front and she thwacked it in. textbook! the second goal, mary took a shot from the point, but it went up off a D's stick and over the goalie. i'll take it! they tied it up in the third, with a 1:56 left. i yelled for us to score, we were on a power play? but then i corrected myself to say "score with 5 seconds left!" doris must've heard me because she scored with 16.2 seconds left. excellent! i had no more legs and was dreading the OT but i thought i had enough to fend off the other team for 16 seconds!

we won 3-2 in another nail biter. we had a slow start in the season but we are markedly improving with every game. love my team, really happy with everyone, we all get along. =)

went out to mountain mike's with a bunch of people and had a great time hanging out. val was passed around and did well for the most part, only got mad a few times. i realized that most of the times she gets pissed is due to a wet diaper so i will be more vigilant about it.

sunday, woke up (relatively) early to head over the hill to meet up with the gang. since we were running late, we went to the diner first but a group was really late so we headed off to the beach. we were woefully unprepared but luckily, our group is well outfitted for outdoor life. jen and jennie had a canopy/popup tent each, sami and karen put up a tent, sue and sarah had a popup thing for the kids, as well as a crawl-thru house thing. it was really quite impressive. nice to hang out and chat with everyone, but we had to leave way too soon to get to liz's 2:30 game. such a bummer, but i realized that it was probably a good thing. any later and we would've gotten stuck in the traffic back over the hill.

don't remember much from that game, i think they lost by a close one though. played in the ateam2 game, which was kinda frustrating. lots of hits and rough play on both sides, though i think we caused the majority of flattening. chuck gave up after giving up a couple goals and we just got tired. sorta fun, but i'm almost ready to stop playing this team. i need to make sure i public skate more though and until i'm sure i'll do that, i should stick to playing two teams.
