- we get much more attention when going out with val. the people at hot pot city now not only know us on sight but how long since our last visit. it's simutaneously cool and creepy. and i feel like they're hovering more, ready to leap into helpful action should we look needy.

i get alot more looks now, sympathetic ones if she's crying, appreciative ones if she's not. people, especially parents of young ones, will stop to chat, ask her age, sex and coo over her cuteness. those that aren't bold enough to talk to me directly will steal a look at her as we pass each other and i get a proud thrill when they smack their friends and say "omg, cute babieeeeee!!!"

- got my mac up and running again after reinstalling the OS but sidetrack and t3xtpander got blown away. lame! luckily i remembered the app names and redownloaded, but seriously, wtf! the install was supposed to preserve my stuff and restore everything.

- pretzels and nutella - SO GOOD. trying not to just suck it all out with a straw or find anything semi-edible just to dip. beef jerky is probably not a good idea. i want to be like sam and riley and smear this all over my face, but since i'm at work, i'll refrain.

[update: peppered beef jerky was a little odd, but not *awful* awful.]

- i miss gus' clippity clopping and deking with his toys. i love our bassets but gus was really no trouble at all, aside from his drooling all over the fricking place after drinking water because he had no teeth to keep it in. i keep looking around for him, it's hard to break the habit after counting to four for 5 years. i get to three and go, 'oh'. sigh.

- yay, a day off but boo, disappointed that we didn't get monday off for the heck of it.

- went to see the devil wears prada last night. watched the first 30 minutes before val tired of it and wanted out. settled her in the hallway, walked back in, waaaah, walked back out, settled again (jet li has a new movie out, fearless? must see!), walked in again, waaaah, walked outside around parking lot, waaaah! walked to car, changed diaper, bah, how are there NO WIPES IN THE CAR??? i had unearthed 3 just the other day! wiped her heinie with her diaper, contemplated taking water and napkins but it wasn't that messy and she wasn't pissed. hung out outside, returned her to the carrier, waaaah, took her out, walked around some more, put her back in the carrier, waaaah. changed another diaper, then just carried her in my arms until she fell asleep. snuck back into the theater and caught the last 30 minutes.

somehow, that was just plenty. went to bob's for dinner and then home.
