weekend update as usual, can't remember what we did on friday. gimme a sec, it'll come back to me. i know neither of us had hockey...probably had...dinner...and then called it a night? sigh, who knows. saturday was a leisurely day. headed to denny's for breakfast/lunch, but i really wanted ravs so i turned around. they were closed for summer vacation so we went to aqui's where i should really learn to stick to what i like and not try new things there. went to babies r us and since val was wearing a cute onesie, we took the opportunity to take even more pictures. she was her cute self, posing in all the positions the woman put her in, then we were to select the pics we want in whatever layout we wanted. i thought i was good with the handful of wallets and 4x6s but then she pulled out the montage bit. it's a racket, i tell you, luring unsuspecting new parents within their grasp and then, when you're not paying attention, WHAM! you're agreeing to every layout, border, font permutation the woman comes up with. i managed to walk away, but then liz uttered the fatal blow, "oh look, for ten dollars more, we would get 6 billion prints*!" who am i to argue? ok, do it. *that's* how to get you. for another dollar, you could get this and for five more, we could do this. sigh. * - number exaggerated. yep, they got another set of unsuspecting first time parents. next time, we will not get suckered. you! you stop laughing right this minute! ok, *I* will not get suckered because i won't be there, so ha! since we had so many pictures, we realized we needed frames so we wandered to aaron bros, who was having a HUGE sale, buy one frame, get the next "copper dotted" frame for a penny. i'm usually skeptical of these sales, as the ones that're marked are usually ones that aren't worth the penny, but i was hella surprised and walked off with a ton of frames. we need to go back and get more...you know, for all the monthly pictures we're not going to get suckered into. (QUIT LAUGHING!) went home to hang for a bit, did we nap? i cut this and last month's pictures apart, filled some picture frames, then napped? since lucinda and jen were in the area, we met them for a lovely 7 courses of beef (it's not as big as it sounds, but it is quite a bit of food), which was fun. food was excellent, as was the company, i was sad when it was time to go. val did well, got a little fussy (wet diaper) but was good for the most part. whew. sunday, went to denny's for breakfast, then went up to susan's to drop val off with her for a few hours while liz coached my red team...to VICTOLY!. i had an ok game, despite having not skated since father's day. blech. they redid the ice but it was a weird dry slush. normally, i ice left and right, but i threw the puck hard up the left side so i could change up, but instead of icing, it trickled just past the blue line. my O made it to the puck first and scored! woo! or was this the one where jean got it behind the net and passed it to betsie, who put it away? can't remember now, all i remember is lindsey telling the D to keep doing that so the O can get it. i think cheddah scored the second goal, but there was confusion as the refs conferred about it, so we all thought it was a faceoff drop, except they skated to center ice! woo, but damn, i missed it! mary scored the other one off, which might've been the first one, not sure, but the O all crashed the net really well. complete coverage! excellent. sigh, with 56 seconds left and us leading 3-2, i got called for high sticking, which was such crap because i was the one that got clocked on the right side of my head! a red jersey was standing in front of the goal, i realized "ah crap, open man!" and rushed to cover her. she saw me coming and threw her shoulder hard into me. wtf! she bounced off of me and as she went down, she jerked her stick up and whacked me upside the head as she fell. AND I GOT CALLED?! we had been tangling all game with increasing contact, which really sucked because i hate when it gets like that, but this was ridiculous. she's a solid skater so her falling seemed on purpose and she threw that shoulder because she was pissed i had her covered a lot of the game. shitty play, shitty talk, unsportsmanlike, makes me mad. i also got a sarcastic "it's about time" from another player who seemed to pick up speed just so she could crash into me. you know what? whatever, quit your whining and put the puck where your mouth is. they pulled their goalie so it was 6 on 4 for a minute. i felt sick for putting my team in that situation but they dug down deep and kept their heads in it, banging the puck out of the zone every time and keeping them from scoring. when the buzzer buzzed, i let out a big WHEW! and yay, we won! a close one, 3-2, but still, a win! we played well as a team, making some good passes and being in good position. yay! =) for you O types, i'm allowed to 1. lift your stick, 2. push you out of my crease, and 3. cover you/tie you up so you can't score. do not expect me to stand back and let you take free shots at my goalie. and really, kid around all you like, but don't make bitchy comments at me, it only changes my opinion of you and makes me cover you harder. anyway, ran outta there to go back to susan's house to eat the yummy chicken bill had made for us, then followed up with DQ. mmm! got home late, but it was a good weekend filled with good food and good people, so it was perfect. =) |
